Situation:
This client was spending a lot of money utilizing an outside warehouse to feed a JIT process. The cost was considerable and the time delays in service were intolerable. The client didn’t have adequate space to house enough inventory to feed the vast fluctuations in production.
Solution:
We worked with the client to devise a plan that would eliminate the reliance on an outside warehousing service to provide product on call. Then we purchased eight axle vans to accommodate the freight and set up a system to run product direct from the supplier. This shuttle required 24/7 staffing and entrusted Keller employees with the responsibility to monitor and maintain inventory levels at the plant. It also created an efficiency in the supply line that eliminated the delays in service time and reduced unnecessary spending. |
